Report summary
Stockholm's Court of Arbitration has ruled that Gazprom must make a net payment of US$2.56 billion to Naftogaz Ukrainy. In response, Gazprom is seeking to terminate the 11-year transit and supply contract. However, Russian gas will continue to flow through Ukraine in order to meet contractual obligations with European customers. Alternative routes through TurkStream and Nord Stream 2 will not be available until 2020.
