Mengzi zinc smelter
Report summary
Mengzi zinc smelter was commissioned in 2006 with capacity of 65kt/a zinc and 50t Indium. The smelter employs the traditional Chinese electrolytic process flowsheet with a 75m2 grate area fluid bed roaster and leach residues treated by a Waelz kiln In 2014, process debottlenecking raised capacity to 70kt/a and during Q2 2016, capacity was again raised to 100kt/a slab zinc. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
