Panel: Trends in residential solar finance
Shifts in financial product offerings are shaking up the residential solar financing landscape. In recent years, the residential solar loan market has dominated and driven the overall residential solar market to new levels. However, interest rate increases and recent bank failures are causing headwinds for the segment. At the same time, the third-party ownership (TPO) segment's share of the industry shrunk to a record low last year. Since the passage of the IRA, though, there is more enthusiasm for the future of the segment given the eligibility of TPO projects for the ITC adders. How will these factors impact the residential solar financing space this year and beyond?

Wood Mackenzie Presentation: Trends in community solar
Community solar continues to play a bigger role in the distributed generation solar landscape. Cumulative installed capacity has more than doubled since 2020, and community solar made up 42% of the total US non-residential solar market in 2022. What are the biggest opportunities for community solar? What are the major headwinds to increased growth? How is local, state, and federal-level policy impacting existing and emerging state markets? This session will explore the answers to these questions and provide an overview of our latest market outlook.

Presentation + Panel Discussion: Domestic manufacturing to domestic content:
What is required to nurture the development of a thriving localized storage component supply chain?
With the IRA providing ‘irresistible’ incentives to investors, the ground is prepared for the growth of a localized energy storage component supply chain. However, how can industry collaborate, innovate and upskill the workforce in order to rise to the challenge? This session will feature a presentation followed by a panel bringing together stakeholders from the energy storage sector to discuss a blueprint for a US-based component supply chain.

Presentation + Panel: Opportunities & challenges for long-duration energy storage implementation
Presentation followed by panel discussion. Rapid decarbonization of power systems will be key to meeting the 1.5°C global warming target in the Paris Agreement. However, integrating high shares of renewables such as wind and solar, given their inherently intermittent nature, raises challenges for the stability and security of power systems. Long-duration energy storage, with longer durations of eight to approximately 100 hours, holds great promise as a low-cost solution to these challenges. This panel will their opportunities to address needs in the future power system, issues on scaling-up and commercialization, policy support and utility requirements for implementation of battery storage projects.

Panel: State of financing for storage projects & opportunities for monetizing the new tax credits
The US energy storage market has seen significant growth in recent years, driven by falling costs and increasing demand for renewable energy sources. However, financing for energy storage projects remains a challenge for many developers due to the relatively nascent nature of battery storage technologies. Many lenders still hesitate to provide financing for energy storage projects due to the perceived risk. What are the options available to developers in terms of strategic partnering to enhance the attractiveness of projects to lenders and investors? How have government incentives changed the game for the financing of storage projects? As the market for energy storage continues to grow, what are the likely financing mechanisms that will emerge?

Panel: Developing a successful blueprint for energy storage operations & maintenance
Developing a successful blueprint for energy storage O&M requires careful planning and ongoing attention to ensure the system operates safely and efficiently over its lifetime. This panel will discuss the role of robust monitoring and control systems, regular maintenance and testing, comprehensive safety protocols, data analytics and performance optimization, along with a skilled workforce in ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of energy storage systems over their lifetime. What are the key factors that battery owners should consider when defining an O&M strategy? How do inhouse O&M strategies compare to outsourcing and what should O&M operators consider regarding battery paired solar systems?
