Near term polypropylene demand contracted as the global economic slowdown due to the global pandemic impact. The anticipated global GDP growth fell by 5.4%, constraining production and consumption activity worldwide. Polypropylene, as its applications related to packaging, daily essential, health care and hygiene, its demand has shown a significant resilience throughout this year. We expect polypropylene demand growth will decrease by 0.6% in 2020 vs 2019. However, with all the pandemic, the threat of re-occurrence has emerged. If the coronavirus impact lasts longer, the collapsing demand for automobiles, home appliances, and constructions will drag down the polypropylene growth rate.
