China began to withdraw from its zero-COVID policy from December 2022. This was expected to bring an economic boost and set up a stronger outlook for 2023. However, the country has now been struck by a large wave of COVID cases and the outlook is less certain. These developments are set to impact polyolefins demand in China, leading to a weaker near-term outlook and a recovery later this year.
