CPChem and QatarEnergy blaze ahead to add 20% of US HDPE capacity
Report summary
CPChem and Qatar energy have confirmed plans of building the world's largest integrated ethylene-polyethylene complex in Orange, Texas. The project will comprise of a 2.08 Mtpa ethane cracker and two 1 Mtpa HDPE lines, costing a whopping 8.5 billion dollars. Construction is set to begin imminently, and is scheduled for completion by 2026. This investment kicks off the third-wave of ethylene capacity addition expected in the US Gulf Coast towards the second half of this decade.
