Alliance, the largest producer in the Illinois Basin, owns and operates a longwall mine in Hamilton County, Illinois and several continuous mining operations spread across West Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. The company produces mainly high-energy, high-sulphur coal with low chlorine content. Future production is shifting toward more efficient operations and lower cost mines.
