Blackhawk Mining is a privately owned coal mining and marketing company headquartered in Lexington Kentucky. The company became a new entrant into Appalachia in 2012 with its Pine Branch purchase and grew rapidly in 2014 2015 by purchasing assets from James River Patriot Arch and Rhino coal companies. Blackhawk's 2017 costs averaged US$75.6/st though domestic and export were US$60.8/st and US$91.3/st respectively.
