Blackhawk Mining is a privately owned coal mining and marketing company headquartered in Lexington Kentucky. The company became a new entrant into the Illinois Basin after purchasing James River's coal assets in 2014. The company currently has two idled underground mines and Idled surface mine and an underground project. All mines are located in Indiana and generally serve the local market.
