Caypa coal mine
Report summary
The Caypa mine is located in the Central Cerrejon coalfield, southwest of the Cerrejon North Zone operation. Caypa is a small surface mine that uses a typical truck-and-shovel mining method. Caribbean Resources has finished the development of the South Pit at Caypa which allowed the mine to increase its total capacity level. If market conditions improve and financial capabilities allow, Caribbean has proposed moving to underground mining to extend Caypa's mine life.
