Report summary

Domestic coal market remained in deficit in October. Thermal and metallurgical coal demand has been boosted by better-than-expected power and steel production. Despite repeated calls by the NDRC to increase supply for the rest of the year, prices stay at high levels and volatility continues. What will the government do next to stem the rise in prices?
