Asset Report
Coal asset report - Ensham coal mine - May 2022
Report summary
Ensham is a surface mine located in the southern Bowen Basin. It used to be one of Queensland's largest thermal coal exporters, with marketable production in excess of 8 Mtpa in 2005. But output from the mine decreased significantly since then due to rising costs associated with a high strip ratio. Ensham covers three adjoining mining leases: Ensham 1 ML7459, Ensham 2 ML7460 and Yongala ML70049. Wood Mackenzie’s asset reports are built from the bottom up, incorporating a number of granular data metrics to ultimately produce our industry standard cash operating costs. This report contains a detailed asset note giving you a holistic view of the asset, including an operational overview through to a timeline of events from inception to now. This qualitative analysis is supplemented by the associated Excel download which enables interrogation of a whole series of cost and production metrics over the life of the asset.
