Report summary
Peabody operates the Shoal Creek longwall mine in Southern Appalachia. The Shoal Creek brand is well established and exclusively sold into the seaborne export market. The mine has a capacity of around 2 Mstpa but has failed to reach the capacity in the last three years due to geological issues and preparation plant upgrades. Recently the product volatile matter content has increased from a mid-volatile coal to a high-volatile coal.
