Global metallurgical coal short-term outlook April 2018: what goes up comes down?

Report summary

Spot hard coking coal prices lost nearly US$65/t or 28% since March, after averaging above US$230/t in prior months. The FOB Queensland low-volatile hard coking coal spot price hit US$170/t on 25 April but gained some ground in the last few days of the month and ended with US$178/t.
