Q1 2016 term contract prices for metallurgical coal continued their downward trajectory with the low-volatile and mid-volatile HCC benchmarks falling to US$81/t, a drop of US$8/t from the Q4 2015 settlement. Active buying interest in China in the first half of December supported spot prices and thus had a positive influence on the quarterly settlement.
