Metallurgical coal quarterly price settlement roundup Q4 2015

Metallurgical coal quarterly price settlement roundup Q4 2015

Report summary

The quarterly contract prices for met coal continued to decline with the low-volatile and mid-volatile benchmark falling US$4/t to US$89/t. With spot prices range bound between US$82/t and US$85/t for the bulk of the last quarter, it can be regarded as a positive outcome for suppliers. Certainly the agreement has been reached comparatively early – reportedly on 11th September – indicating perhaps an acknowledgement by suppliers that a fall towards the spot price was inevitable.
