Report summary

Warmer than normal weather appeared with a bang by late July driving domestic prompt month prices upward slightly by the end of the month. Coal fired generation in May 2017 was 11 TWh above May of the previous year. We forecast coal generation for the last seven months of 2017 to be 1.5% below the same period last year as higher natural gas prices are off set by normal weather.
