Commodity Market Report
North America coal short-term outlook June 2022
Report summary
Peak cooling demand is still on the horizon, but warm weather has kept its momentum from May into June. Domestic and seaborne markets are both fundamentally undersupplied and could be getting desperate for coal deliveries either in the coming summer months or later this winter. Railcar availability is partially to blame as we expect miners are being encouraged by current spot prices to help bridge the supply-demand gap.
