Report summary

The US coal market continued to undergo structural change in June aimed at right sizing the industry and re aligning supply with falling demand. Coal demand is eroded by retiring power plants and competition from low cost natural gas. We are seeing the effects of an over supplied domestic and international market where coal buyers have an upper hand in negotiations and prices are falling in search of a floor.
