Located in the southwest corner of Umnigovi province in southern Mongolia, Ovoot Tolgoi is SouthGobi's flagship mine. Ovoot Tolgoi has faced numerous problems reaching its planned annual production over the years. Some of these problems which have lead to production shut downs include: pit realignment; border crossing closures; poor economic conditions and government restrictions on mining and exploration licenses.
