Quarterly price settlement draws to a close

Report summary

The agreement of semi-soft coking coal prices between Australian sellers and Japanese mills confirmed late last week completed the Q4 contract negotiations for key Asia Pacific metallurgical benchmark coals.  The agreement at US$87/t followed the 24th September settlement of hard coking coal at US$119/t and the subsequent ULV PCI settlement at US$99/t.  This brief insight documents settled prices for a range of metallurgical coals in the Asia Pacific trade.
