Rhino - Appalachia coal mines

Rhino - Appalachia coal mines

Report summary

Rhino operates two underground mines and four surface mines organized into four complexes. Two operations are in Northern Appalachia and two in Central Appalachia. Rhino has delayed plans for expansions of its thermal and metallurgical operations due to weak markets.  The company has also cut production to better align with sales.  This leads to a projected production level of 1.4 Mst in 2017. A large part of this decline in production is lower volumes from the company's Central Appalachian coal mines.
