Report summary

Shanxi (North) comprises the Datong, Shuozhou and Xinzhou prefectures. It is a major contributor to China's thermal coal production with key producers such as China Coal and Datong located in the region. Shanxi (North) contributes around one-third of Shanxi's overall production. Shanxi (North) has some of the largest coal infrastructure in China and a long history of production. The infrastructure in the region also serves as a gateway to the eastern coastline for the surrounding provinces of Shaanxi and Inner Mongolia.
