Walter Energy idles Canadian operations
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
On 15 April 2014, Walter Energy announced the company will begin to idle its Canadian operations: Wolverine, Willow Creek and Brule. This action is the latest step Walter is taking to improve its financial position as the company remains under pressure to improve liquidity amidst falling metallurgical coal prices and a debt load incurred in the April 2011 acquisition of Western Coal for US$3.3 billion.
