Commodity Market Report
Algeria energy markets long-term outlook 2019
Report summary
Algeria is at a crossroads as it confronts the reality of a tightening market balance. The two most important resources – oil and gas, will need to be managed effectively to delay the looming production decline. The government has ambitious plans to diversify the energy mix within the power sector, and longer-term, this could be the key to unlocking higher export potential. Policy changes are equally important in encouraging foreign participation in the upstream industry. Algeria’s shale resource, mostly untapped, is the third-largest in the world – it has roughly 700 tcf of recoverable gas resources.
