Egypt's gas demand has grown on average by 6.7% per year between 2000 and 2013 driven by strong economic growth and domestic fuel subsidies, which kept gas prices artificially low; we project that annual gas demand growth will slow to 0.5% until 2035 as fuel subsidies are cut and the country faces a tightening gas balance. Consequently, the share of gas in Egypt's fuel mix will decline from 54% to 41% by 2035 with power generation remaining the biggest gas consumer ...
