Report summary

The continued development of Israel's gas reserves will change the Israeli energy landscape significantly. Bringing Leviathan onstream will change Israel's position from a net gas importer to a net exporter by 2021. Driven by growing gas production we expect a significant shift in Israel's fuel mix through 2035 with gas becoming the dominant fuel driven by growth in electricity generation and industry. Gas will displace coal as the principle fuel in the power sector however strong growth of renewables will reduce the share of fossil fuels significantly by 2035.
