While the future of Japan's nuclear industry is still unclear, higher end-user prices, combined with the LDP's consolidation of power, has created a more positive outlook for nuclear re-starts. While nuclear start-ups will hit oil and gas-fired generation over the short and medium term, both natural gas and coal will replace most of the nuclear reduction over the longer-term
