Mozambique enjoys strong economic growth but from a low base and the country remains one of the poorest nations in the world. The country has large coal and gas reserves and their development will make Mozambique a significant seaborne exporter of both commodities in the coming decades. Domestic energy demand growth will depend on investment in power and gas infrastructure as well as energy intensive industries like fertilisers methanol and gas to liquids.
