Pakistan energy markets long-term outlook 2019: on the cusp of an energy challenge
Report summary
Pakistan is on the cusp of an energy challenge. As domestic demand outpaces supply, we expect Pakistan will be a growth market for imported fuels across coal, oil, and gas. At the same time, the power sector is undergoing a generational shift. Gas into power will peak by the early 2020s as low carbon alternatives expand. This shift in how energy is produced will also spur electrification – a nascent trend short term, but one that will accelerate towards the end of our forecast.
