The US will become energy self sufficient in 2025. This is being brought about by the changing role of coal oil and gas in the US. Oil and gas production are both increasing due to hydraulic fracturing. Meanwhile oil and coal demand is declining due to alternative fuels environmental regulation and increased efficiency in the transport fleet.
