Report summary

Since the fall of the Soviet Union Uzbekistan has retained much of its Soviet era inefficient infrastructure and industry. It is also home to 28 million people roughly 85% of Central Asia's population and average energy tariffs are relatively low. Consequently Uzbekistan is currently the most energy intensive country in the world. Going forward modernisation and upgrades to dilapidated infrastructure will be critical.
