Belgium gas markets long-term outlook H2 2014

Belgium gas markets long-term outlook H2 2014

Report summary

Mild temperatures throughout 2014 resulted in weak gas demand in Belgium. We expect prices to recover this winter as reduced flexibility from Dutch production, combined with reduced LNG imports across Europe, will put pressure on prices. However, with oil price falling below US$70/bbl in December, expectations on future spot gas prices in Belgium have been reduced. We continue to expect an oversupplied market around 2020, leading to a collapse in prices, before prices recover in the long-term.
