Commodity Market Report
Europe gas and power markets short-term outlook Q1 2020
Report summary
Mild weather, LNG supply growth and the Ukraine transit deal have conspired against European gas prices to deliver record price lows through Q1 2020. Any prospect of price recovery has quickly evaporated. Coronavirus poses a significant and further threat to gas demand across Europe and we forecast storage levels to hold 24 bcm above their 5-year average by the end of March. All signals point towards an intensification of the oversupply as we move towards summer.
