Commodity Market Report
Germany gas and LNG markets long-term outlook 2019
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
Germany is Europe's largest gas market. Its environmental transition is also well under way, particularly in the power sector, where the Merkel government vowed to phase out nuclear and coal capacity by 2022 and 2038, respectively. In this context, gas will play a key role as a flexible transition fuel, complementing the growth of renewables. In the next decade, the key evolutions of the German gas market will be around infrastructure. With the completion of the pipeline Nord Stream 2, Germany will become Europe's largest gas transit market and will benefit from the change of supply dynamics in NW Europe. With the current political support, Germany may also have a first LNG regas terminal operational in the next five years. This report contains Wood Mackenzie's long-term outlook for the German gas market. A dataset is available, in the "Download" section of the report.
