Report summary
We forecast that unconventional production will reach 84 bcfd in US and 16.6 bcfd in Canada by 2020. Technology, drilling improvements and optimisation continue to lower costs and increase well performance. Meanwhile, China's shale gas potential is the subject of increasing industry focus. We forecast a slow growth initially but expect shale gas production to reach around 180 bcm by 2033, accounting for more than a third of total domestic supply in China by this time.
