Italy gas markets long-term outlook H1 2015

Italy gas markets long-term outlook H1 2015

Report summary

We expect higher LNG imports into Italy in the longer-term, a result of lower Asian LNG demand, the cancellation of South Stream and the ramp up of US LNG volumes. Turkish Stream, Gazprom's alternative project to South Stream, does not include plans to build pipelines in EU territory, leaving Italy exposed to security of supply concerns with Russian volumes through Ukraine and uncertainty over North African piped volumes, only partially mitigated by TAP. This could lead to more LNG into Italy.
