The northern hemisphere winter provided little support to gas prices, which have continued to fall. Prices will fall further, as new supply enters a market reeling from falling demand in the two largest LNG markets of Japan and South Korea. We forecast that Asia spot LNG prices will fall below fuel-oil parity and find a floor at European prices, which in turn will be testing coal-to-gas switching levels.
Included in the report are global LNG balances (exports, gross imports, re-exports and net demand); forecast spot prices of Pacific LNG; European gas balances; and forecast gas spot prices in Northwest Europe and the USA. It is complemented by a global LNG supply-demand balance spread sheet with country granularity and our forecast for spot prices.
