Wood Mackenzie tracks gas-intensive projects that materially impact US and Canadian demand. Hurricane Harvey greatly impacted the Texas and Louisiana coastlines, where over 95% of US petrochemical capacity lies. Although Harvey shut down operations and potentially delayed constructions, most of the new plants have either been completed or are near completion. Thus we expect the delays for the remainder of 2017 to be muted. We expect over 0.5 bcfd of industrial demand to be added in 2017. Three plants that will be coming online later this year account for almost 50% of this demand- Natgasoline's methanol plant in Nederland, ExxonMobil’s ethylene plant in Baytown and Chevron’s ethylene plant in Cedar Bay.
