Commodity Market Report
North America gas weekly update: Recount?
Report summary
Intraday price ranges of $1/mmbtu highlights the extreme volatility in North America gas markets. The market imbalance is not unsurmountable this early in the injection season compared to historical levels, but the price necessary to achieve it may need to stay higher for longer until it fixes itself. Higher production and less gas burns would help fix market imbalances and some signposts are emerging. However, until clearer persistent trends emerge, Henry Hub price volatile will continue. Increasing weekly storage injections narrowing the deficit will be a good start.
