Report summary

Gas is forecast to play a significant role in the Polish energy mix out to 2035 especially in the power sector. As Polish domestic production is low and falling unless significant progress is made in shale gas production greater gas demand means an increased need for gas imports. Poland's reluctance to increase their dependence on Russian gas has resulted in a recent flurry of gas infrastructure projects such as an LNG terminal and a number of new interconnectors and storage facilities to ensure security of supply through diversification.
