September saw divestment campaigns in the region picking up pace as oil prices force businesses to review their regional spending. ExxonMobil sold its assets in Aceh to PERTAMINA. BG and ConocoPhillips have announced intent to sell their stake in Bongkot and South Natuna Sea Block B respectively. Conversely, power investments in region have been gathering interest. PetroVietnam has kicked off the 1,200 MW Long Phu 1 thermal power plant in South Vietnam while Thai company Egco announced plans for a 370 MW power plant in Myanmar’s Dawei special economic zone.
