Spain gas markets long-term outlook H1 2014

Spain gas markets long-term outlook H1 2014

Report summary

Prices in Spain have increasingly been determined by global LNG dynamics. Low demand and increased piped imports have led to LNG diversions, through direct diversions and re-exports, which almost doubled in 2013. LNG in Spain has been priced at premium of around US$2.0/mmbtu to the NBP. We expect the attractiveness of LNG re-export to diminish over time as lower oil prices and consequently lower Asian spot prices will make re-exports economics less attractive.
