United Kingdom gas markets long-term outlook H2 2016

Report summary

Low LNG imports and outages at Rough - the UK's biggest storage facility - have seen NBP trading at a premium to TTF through the 2016/17 winter period. The cost of import flexibility has also increased due to the expiry of a long-term capacity contract on the BBL, the pipeline connecting Continental Europe to the UK via the Netherlands. However, with LNG imports expected to more than double in NW Europe from 2017, we expect the NBP premium to TTF to dissipate as the UK becomes the major gateway for LNG imports in Europe.
