Vietnam LNG market outlook
This report is currently unavailable
Report summary
A combination of growing electricity demand and uncertainty in domestic gas production will result in Vietnam joining the group of LNG importing countries. We expect Vietnam's first imported LNG in 2022. Construction of Vietnam's first LNG import terminal, by private company Hai Linh, was completed in June 2020 and awaits testing & commissioning. Construction of Thi Vai LNG, by PetroVietnam, is ongoing. The terminal is likely to be the next to come into operation after Hai Linh's. The other two projects that are advancing are Son My and Bac Lieu. Vietnam has at least ten proposed LNG-to-power projects included in the draft Power Development Plan VIII. Most of the projects include new gas-fired powerplants. In our latest Vietnam LNG market outlook, we have added a comprehensive list of proposed LNG regas projects, along with our latest view on demand, policy, infrastructure, and risk.
