The Dominican Republic is entirely dependent on LNG to satisfy its gas demand. The country's existing regas terminal, Andres, has been in operation since 2003. Since then, several proposals for a second facility located in the San Pedro de Marcoris area were put forward. These proposals were eventually consolidated into one project operated by a consortium called Antillean Gas, comprised of Coastal Petroleum, Ipson, InterEnergy, BW, and Promigas.
