El Salvador LNG long-term outlook 2017

Report summary

The Salvadoran government is looking to strengthen the country's energy position by importing LNG.  If successful, El Salvador would be the first Central American nation to import LNG, which could be a boon to gas demand growth throughout the region. In October 2012, DELSUR launched a call for contracting 350 MW and its energy associated for 20 years,  The PPA  was granted to Energia del Pacífico (EDP) for 355 MW of firm power. Energia del Pacifico project will include a LNG regasification terminal at the Port of Acajutla, along the Pacific shore.
