LNG shipping capacity is expanding rapidly with nine vessels added to the fleet so far in 2016 and a further 34 scheduled for delivery before the end of the year. Without further ship retirements or delivery slippage, fleet capacity will grow 11.2% in 2016. Weak demand and low charter rates has seen no new LNG ships ordered so far in 2016. Further details of these new orders and recent changes to the current fleet ownership and employment have been captured in our updated LNG fleet database; which can be found in the related Excel download.
