Global LNG shipping - fleet overview July 2014

Report summary

The wave of LNG vessels ordered post-Fukushima is beginning to be delivered to the fleet with 38 due for delivery in 2014. Despite the increased delivery rate the orderbook continues to grow on the back of recent orders for QCLNG and Yamal LNG. Falling spot/short-term charter rates will deter speculative orders but perspective owners and charterers are looking beyond the current surplus shipping capacity to the advent of US exports and potential exports from East Africa, Canada and Russia.
