Report summary

Greece is one of the smallest and youngest gas markets in Europe. With no remaining indigenous gas production Greece is entirely dependent on imports. The government has sought to promote the use of gas to diversify its energy supply. Gas infrastructure has been developed rapidly and more international pipelines are planned which could make Greece an important transit country in southern Europe.
